Capitol Surveillance Cameras Catch Purse Snatcher

CHARLESTON -- The West Virginia Division of Protective Services was able to identify Linda Zickefoose after observing her allegedly stealing from two Capitol Complex visitors’ purses.
Zickefoose was first seen lingering around purses that two Huntington residents placed along a wall while taking photos. Capitol Police then watched Zickefoose, through the surveillance footage, take items from two purses, according to information from the West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety.

Zickefoose then walked to her vehicle, which was parked on Kanawha Boulevard, and officers switched to other cameras to capture her car’s license plate number, which identified the owner. A Charleston Police Department officer accompanied Capitol Police to Zickefoose’s residence.

Zickefoose was charged Wednesday with two counts of petit larceny.
